Care's mission is to provide access to quality health care for Los Angeles County's vulnerable and low-income communities and residents.The Systems Administrator III is responsible for day-to-day tasks and projects relating to Unix-based infrastructure (RS/6000), Linux Redhat, Windows Server 2003-2012, VMware virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, and SAN management. This position works closely with Systems Administrators and Application groups in solving problems and managing business-critical Unix and Windows Servers, patch management, Symantec DLP, Netbackup, and Network Appliance Storage.Duties
- Install, maintain, and upgrade software and O/S on RS/6000/LINUX Redhat systems, Windows server, SAN/NAS NetApp devices, and Netbackup.
- Develop and maintain standards for all Windows server and UNIX systems.
- Develop and enforce industry and health care security standards across all server systems ensuring proper system logging, patch management, Antivirus, and performance monitoring.
- Provide project plans to support seamless implementations. Organize work sessions with support groups to ensure well-planned implementations.
- Troubleshoot, rebuild, recover, and tune servers. Ensure standard operating procedures (SOPs) are created and complied with to ensure a stable environment.
- Conduct Disaster Recovery Exercises to demonstrate the capability of establishing System connectivity in the event of an outage.
- Applies subject expertise in evaluating business operations and processes. Identifies areas where technical solutions would improve business performance. Consults across business operations, providing mentorship, and contributing specialized knowledge.
- Provides training, recommends process improvements, and mentors
junior level staff and interns as needed.Education
RequiredBachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems or
Related Field. In lieu of degree, equivalent education and/or
experience may be considered.ExperienceRequired: At least 5 years
of experience in managing large scale computing environments
running multiple platforms (RS/6000 AIX 5.2, LINUX Apache/Tomcat),
VMware, SAN, and Windows 2008-2012 and above.SkillsRequired: Must
be flexible and able to work on weekends and off hours. Reliable
and effective follow-through and demonstrated project management
skills in an I.T. technical environment.Physical
