Thousand Oaks, California Level II Trauma Center

We are partnering with a well-established Level II Trauma Center in Southern California seeking a Trauma Medical Director to provide clinical and operational leadership while maintaining an active Trauma and Acute Care Surgery practice.
This opportunity offers the ability to lead an established trauma program, drive quality and performance improvement initiatives, and help shape the future growth of the service line while working alongside a collaborative surgical team.

Clinical Practice
  • Approximately 1,000 trauma activations annually
  • Approximately acute care surgery cases annually
  • Trauma Surgery
  • Acute Care Surgery
  • Surgical Critical Care
  • Trauma ICU management
  • Predominantly blunt trauma population
  • Broad operative and non-operative trauma experience
Team & Schedule
  • 5 full-time Trauma/Acute Care Surgeons
  • Additional per diem surgeon support
  • APP support integrated into the service
  • 24-hour shift-based coverage model
  • Approximately 9 shifts per month
  • Dedicated backup coverage structure
  • No traditional clinic plus call schedule
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Trauma program oversight
  • Performance Improvement (PI) leadership
  • Trauma quality and patient safety initiatives
  • ACS verification readiness and compliance
  • Collaboration with hospital and physician leadership
  • Strategic planning and program development
  • Physician engagement and mentorship
Qualifications
  • Board Certified in General Surgery
  • Trauma/Acute Care Surgery and/or Surgical Critical Care training preferred
  • Eligible for California medical licensure
  • Prior trauma leadership experience preferred
  • Interest in quality improvement and program growth
