We are seeking a skilled Hospitalist Physician Assistant for a locum tenens position at a Hospital in California. This 120-day assignment starts on 05/26/2025, with a flexible 7-on/7-off schedule. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting internal medicine physicians/hospitalists, managing discharges, and performing various procedures in a high chronic acute care setting. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital environment, providing comprehensive care to patients in Med Surg and Tele Surg units. The Physician Assistant will be responsible for collaborating with hospitalists, managing patient care, performing procedures, and handling discharges.Job Details:Location: CaliforniaFacility Type: HospitalStart Date: 05/26/2025LOA: 120 daysProvider Type Needed: Hospitalist Physician AssistantSchedule: Flexible 7-on/7-off (morning and night shifts available)Job Responsibilities and Duties: Support internal medicine physicians and hospitalists in patient care Manage patient discharges and admissions Perform procedures including vascular access, thoracentesis, paracentesis, venous access, NG tube placement, and line placements (arterial, central, PICC) Collaborate with hospitalists in a closed unit setting Provide care for patients in Med Surg and Tele Surg units Conduct patient rounds and assessments Develop and implement treatment plans Interpret diagnostic tests and lab results Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Epic EHR system Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members Participate in multidisciplinary care conferences Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols Stay updated on the latest advancements in hospital medicineAdditional Information: Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in California Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred Strong clinical skills in hospital medicine and acute care procedures Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and time management skills Flexibility to work both morning and night shifts Comfortable managing a high volume of discharges (average 23 per day) Critical care procedures not required for this position Possibility of assignment extension beyond the initial 120 daysApply now to learn more!Benefits: Strong compensation Travel-related expenses covered A-rated medical malpractice insurance provided Dedicated recruiter for future travel opportunitiesWhat are Locum Tenens Jobs?Locum tenens jobs (AKA travel jobs) are contract roles designed to fill gaps in care at facilities and hospitals over a specific timeframe.
