Job Summary:This position serves as a thought partner and council for strategic planning. This role will provide executive business line leadership, direction, innovation, strategic planning and oversight for all enterprise-wide clinical pharmacy services and programs, pharmacy quality, and outcomes research. This position is responsible for the development and execution of overall business line strategies to meet current service expectations, member growth, and business expansion needs on both a market and national basis. Primary clinical pharmacy and quality areas of focus include strategic planning; coordination of the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of clinical pharmacy programs; identification and standardization of productivity and performance measures for specific clinician care models; determination of resources to support implementation and support growth of initiatives; space planning and facility design; workflow standardization and consistency; usage of technology; management reporting systems; quality, risk management, and customer service programs and initiatives, and utilization of these items to provide excellence in high-quality member services and prudent use of resources. Pharmacy outcomes research areas of focus include directing and overseeing the promotion and support of safe and appropriate use of pharmaceuticals throughout the enterprise through analytics-supported outcomes research. This position is expected to establish strong collaborative relationships with key leaders within the KP organization and use influence to drive results. This position will work, in partnership, with formulary and drug use management teams to operationalize affordability initiatives/strategies.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Works with executive partners to seek out, promote and facilitate the rapid adoption and assimilation of best practices and innovations in service, work methods, technology, and operational systems to improve pharmacy service, quality, and productivity across the enterprise.
  • In partnership with the markets, drives to optimize the operating budget of $500M for Clinical Pharmacy services of 1,500 resources. Responsible for a team of direct reports that lead an organization of diverse and multiskilled FTEs that help support the national program by working collaboratively with clinical pharmacy services teams and market leaders in all 8 KP markets.
  • Provides executive business line leadership, direction, decision making and oversight and support to assure all management personnel within Clinical Pharmacy Programs actively support and assure compliance with the organizations Labor-Management Partnership agreements and other non-LMP labor agreements.
  • Oversees execution of evidence-based National clinical initiatives that focus on improvement of clinical outcomes and promote optimal use of clinical pharmacist resources.
  • Provides executive leadership in the assessment and evaluation of Clinical Pharmacy Services to meet affordability targets, optimize resources, clinical outcomes, and quality of care initiative goals. Acts as an expert and resource on clinical program-related data, analyses, measures, protocols, and National medication use initiatives.
  • Assists executive leadership to seek out, promote and facilitate the rapid adoption and assimilation of best practices and innovations in service, work methods, technology, and operational systems to improve pharmacy service, quality and productivity across the enterprise.
  • Participates in Workforce Planning and Leadership/Management Development to ensure long term success of Clinical pharmacy programs in Kaiser Permanente.
  • Assures compliance with Pharmacy law, regulations, pharmacy business practices, accreditation standards, SOX controls, and Kaiser Permanente policies for all areas with direct oversight
  • Builds strong collaborative relationships with other senior leaders within the national pharmacy program and Medical Groups to ensure efficient, effective, and consistent delivery of pharmacy services and care within all clinical pharmacy programs.
  • Champions initiatives that promote access to and advance the clinical scope and acumen of clinical pharmacists in KP outpatient pharmacies. Works collaboratively with pharmacy operations leadership to achieve these responsibilities.
  • Directs oversight of Quality Pharmacy programs and leadership to develop quality initiatives, processes, and tools to measure and achieve quality targets, metrics, and goals within clinical pharmacy programs. Responsible to support the execution and consistent implementation of quality initiatives across clinical pharmacy practice settings. Responsible for all applicable policies, standards and regulations related to AR&L (Accreditation, Regulatory and Licensing).This position has a target base salary of $229,500 to $286,875 and is eligible for incentive compensation, comprehensive health, wellness, time off, savings, and retirement benefits, as well as relocation support, as applicable.Basic Qualifications:Experience
  • Minimum seven (7) years of escalating management experience in a multi-site pharmacy operation within an integrated care delivery system, including the utilization of quality and performance assessment/management systems and processes.Education
  • Pham D requiredLicense, Certification, Registration
  • Pharmacist License (Any KP Market)
  • Completion of PGY-1 residency Additional Requirements:
  • Integrated health system experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and health care administrators
  • Knowledgeable and experienced in clinical pharmacy operations, systems, technology, and personnel management
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and utilize knowledge of quality management and medication safety processes, as-well-as Pharmacy and related Medical, Nursing and other health care laws, regulations, and standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage professionals and others through influence and collaboration across multiple sites
