Bus Operations Control Center Manager Arcadia , California Apply Now The Bus Operations Control Center is responsible for all revenue bus service, radio communications, vehicle fleet management, planning and directing bus operations, coordination of transit supervisors, spontaneous decision making, answering phone calls, and performing computer data entry tasks, Responsible for ensuring safe and effective delivery of transit service to our customers through responsible supervision and communication with Bus Operators. Position facilitates and supervises communications, coordinates the restoration of bus service and appropriate personnel, keeps City informed of any service disruption.ResponsibilitiesSupervises the scheduling and dispatching of drivers; directs and schedules work of Dispatch staff.Supervises the funnction of scheduling and dispatching drivers both via radio and window dispatch workAnswers calls from clients and schedule servicesMaintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received to schedule transit services, drivers dispatched, and customer cancellations or no-showsEnters data into spreadsheets and databasesPrepares reports on all activities occurring during their shiftsCreates the daily schedules and work flow related to daily schedulingServes as an emergency contact for drivers in the fieldCoordinates communications between drivers and other supervisory, Risk Management, and Training/Safety personnel.Coordinates with municipal, county and other agencies in emergency situations or in traffic-routing problems, detours, enhanced service requirementsProvides coordination of schedules and directs work of Dispatchers in absence of Manager; works closely with Manager to administer the Dispatch functionDocuments and issues disciplineWork closely with Scheduler and act as a back up if needed.Other duties as required.QualificationsEducation, Licensing, and Certifications :High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, requiredA valid drivers' licenseExperience :

  • Three(3) to Five(5) year experience in heavy radio or dispatch, preferably in a public transit environment.Skills and Knowledge Required:Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changesKnowledge of city street systems, peak traffic times and locations, and effects of weather on street conditionsAbility to read, comprehend and understand a mapAbility to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, poloicies, phases and routesGeneral knowledge of the methods of operating two-way communications equipment and proper procedures, and ability to communicate via radio or communications systemStrong written and oral communications skillsAbility to remail calm and organized in emergency and complex tranist operation problemsAbility to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrentlyAbility to interact professionallywith internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groupsPre-Employment Requirements:
