Description: A Technical Support Engineer / CNC Machinist is
responsible for the planning, layout, setup, operating and making
tool adjustments for a variety of major conventional or automatic
machines including Haas 3-5 axis CNC Lathe, Power Brake, Shear,
Bridgeport Mill, Drill Press, Veritical/Horizontal/Circular Band
Saw. Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform
production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of
metal to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects and builds
machining operations against specified tolerances. May include work
with fabrication, sheet metal operations, or machine hardware and
assemblies. May also make recommendations concerning use of and
improvement upon materials and design. Technician is responsible
for performing diversified testing operations and making necessary
repairs or modifications on a wide variety of prototypes and
production parts, sub-assemblies and components. Position requires
the ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with a
focus on quality and attention to detail. Essential Functions:
- Set-up and/or operate variety of machine tools such as Haas 3
axis CNC Mills and Lathe, manual lathes, manual mills, drill press,
brake and shear.
- Proficient in machining and writing program using GibbsCAM
Software.
- Will measure, mark and scribe dimensions and reference points
to lay-out stock for machining.
- Fits and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment and
determine material, parts and equipment as required.
- Must complete all work within alocated hours per task
- Proficient in reading micrometers and calipers
- Monitor and verify parts and procedures in accordance with
statistical process and/or other control procedures.
- Establish and maintain successful relations with Engineering
management and Planning departments.
- Some travel may be required.
- First Shift - Monday - Thursday/Friday
- Ability to set-up and run all equipment in the machine shop,
with the skill to help others with set-up and operation of
equipment and procedures as needed.
- Identify and find solutions to machining problems and
procedures, and conduct preventive maintanance.
- Reading/interpreting blueprints, sketches, and engineering
specifications.
- Make standard machine shop computations relating to tooling,
feeds and speeds.
- People skills - communication and engagement with all
departments.
- Sheet metal and fabrication experience required.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Understand and follow appropriate test equipment / safety
procedures.
- Maintain troubleshooting documentation in appropriate process /
product documents.
- Support completion of assembly operations to meet delivery
expectations.
- Identify ways to improve current production processes and
communicate ideas with appropriate personnel.
- Strong planning/organizational skills with ability to
prioritize work assignments.
- Ability to work individually and in a team oriented
environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Qualifications:
- Requires practical knowledge of job area typically obtained
through advanced education combined with experience. 2 years
post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior
related experience.
- Requires college level training or coursework in CNC
programming utilizing GibbsCAM and CNC machining
- Must have 3 Axis Machining experience on Haas CNC.
- Must be able to program, read, check and make edits and
additions to CNC programs with GibbsCAM Software.
- Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of experience operation CNC
machining centers Preferred Additional Skills:
- 5S and Lean manufacturing knowledge is a plus. In compliance
with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role
is $62,000 - $116,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or
salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including
but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris
