Job Description:

Our client are a Silicon Valley backed start-up Underwriter, who have a unique offering. They -provide capital, complementary expertise, access to issuing paper and reinsurance. Plus the operational, regulatory and technical resources needed to launch MGA -businesses. -Role and ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will be responsible for supporting the financial operations for each of the Series, including preparation of financial statements and providing analysis on the monthly, quarterly and annual -results. Working -with the account managers and carrier representatives, this individual will manage the accounts receivable process and follow-up with brokers to collect overdue -payments. The -person will be required to prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations, -analysing -business requirements, determination of appropriate tools and approaches, and the application of standards and best practices. Working with the business, operations, vendors, carrier and other partners, this individual will influence and adhere to defined standards and leverage technology to identify/design and implement best practices for accounting management and financial reporting.The ideal candidates will have experience working in insurance underwriting, operations, or similar areas, as well as possess strong accounting and reporting analysis and technical -skills. We -are looking for someone who can cover the spectrum of creating and managing repeatable processes to being able to communicate and work dynamically with both external and internal stakeholders.Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with other team members to define and establish standards, framework, and best practices for preparation and delivery of Series Financial Statements.
  • Work with team members to adhere to repeatable and scalable processes for the collection, design, and prioritization of work.
  • Work alongside a diverse team including vendors to drive the design and implementation of accounting platforms to fit the business current requirements and future enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify emerging trends, needs and opportunities to provide distinctive value and outcomes from the services and data.
  • Ability to synthesize requests, uncover inherent trends, make recommendations about associated implications to business performance, communicate findings and recommendations to a variety of audiences.
  • Maintain a strategic outlook and stay current with changing accounting requirements and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of key business processes to be seen as a trusted advisor to the business leveraging technology to bear optimize efficiency and accuracy.Preferred Technical skills:
    • General ledger accounting knowledge.
    • Ability to perform account reconciliations.
    • Understanding of internal controls.
    • Understanding of flow of operational and financial data from source systems through financial statements
    • Ability to produce financial statements and supporting analysis
    • Detail oriented
    • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to communicate (phone, email, collaboration tools) with vendors and customers on cash collections, payments and account management.
    • Strong organizational and documentation skillsExperience:
      • Bachelor's Degree
      • 5+ years of progressive experience in financial services, insurance, or data analytics industry; 3-4 years Insurance Company, MGA or TPA experience preferred
      • 5+ years accounting experience
      • Excellent communication and collaboration skills required, to effectively work with a variety of business partners and distribution partners.
      • Demonstrated thought leadership around business process design and improvement.
      • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload and deliverables.
      • Self-motivated and innovative with the ability to set direction, organize and manage own work, and effectively work in collaboration with others.
